Vin Diesel took to Instagram yesterday to announce that XXX 3 would start filming this December in the Philippines. Whoa?! What? No director has been announced yet, but Michael Ferris and John Brancato (Terminator Salvation) provided the most recent draft of the script, with Furious series mastermind Neal H. Moritz set to produce.
Diesel starred as leading man Xander Cage in 2002’s XXX. Although unable to star in the sequel due to scheduling conflicts, XXX: State of the Union, starring Ice Cube,was playing another XXX agent, Darius Stone, released in 2005 and subsequently failed at the box office. Wildly rumored to be called XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, the third big screen actioner has been planned for years, but has been stuck in limbo, but with the success of the Furious franchise, Diesel has a lot more pull to get passion projects greenlit.
