Ruth Negga Cast as Tulip in AMC’s ‘Preacher’

RuthNeggamain

Deadline is reporting that current Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. cast member, Ruth Negga, has been cast in role of Tulip O’Hare, the female lead in Preacher, AMC’s drama pilot based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s cult 1990s comic.

Preacher tells the story of Jesse Custer, a preacher in the small Texas town of Annville. Custer was accidentally possessed by the supernatural creature named Genesis in an incident which killed his entire congregation and flattened his church.Genesis, the product of the unauthorized, unnatural coupling of an angel and a demon, is an infant with no sense of individual will. However, as it is composed of both pure goodness and pure evil, it might have enough power to rival that of God Himself. In other words, Jesse Custer, bonded to Genesis, may have become the most powerful being in the whole of living existence. Jesse hits the road, reunited with his ex girlfriend, Tulip, and joined by a rowdy Irish vampire, Cassidy, to track down God himself and force him to explain why he abandoned his duties in Heaven.

Preacher will be produced by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen. The pilot was written by Sam Catlin and Rogen and Goldberg are set to direct it. Jesse Custer has yet to be cast. The show will premiere in 2016 on the network

FOX has renewed mystery-adventure series Sleepy Hollow for a third season, it was announced today by David Madden, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. Television producer Clifton Campbell has signed on as executive producer and showrunner.

Sleepy Hollow is truly inventive television. He is an excellent producer, and we can’t wait to see what this team has in store for Season Three.”

Campbell joins the series after serving as creator and executive producer of The Glades and co-executive producer on White Collar

Big fan of this show and I loved the ending of Season 2. Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) and Lieutenant Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) are positioned to face even greater challenges in the coming episodes with the third season no doubt being the biggest season yet. How will the show explore the relationship between Crane and Mills after the events of Season 2 and how will that evolvution factor into the challenges these two will face in the future? Only time will tell, and with a new showrunner in place, maybe some new blood and new visions will spark an exciting future for the show!

Robert Kirkman Talks About The Walking Dead Companion Series

The-Walking-Dead-Companion-Series-Promo_001The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman spoke today at SXSW in Austin, Texas about the upcoming Walking Dead companion series set to premiere on AMC in late summer 2015. EW was there and they got some interesting comments regarding the timeline of the show:

“It’s not going to relate to the comics at all,” Kirkman said. “From the beginning of the show one thing we’ve heard is, ‘What’s going on over here or there.’ So the intent of the new show is to expand that world and show another corner of the United States and what’s happening there. The timeline is taking place a little bit earlier than the original show. Rick Grimes woke up from a coma and was like, ‘Oh, man, zombies, weird!’ We’re going to possibly see that unfold a little more in the other show. But I wouldn’t call it ‘prequel’ because the entirety of the show is not going take place before [The Walking Dead]. It will eventually form a path . running concurrently.”

Interesting comments! But will the two shows ever cross? Kirkman isn’t saying, but he did say this:

”One thing that we’re doing with the new show that we’re trying with everything is it’s not derivative,” he said. “It’s standing on its own. You can watch it by itself and get your own experience. But if you are watching both shows there are things like, ‘Oh they discovered this, or they discovered that in a different way.’ There are a lot of things about The Walking Dead world these characters have to learn or figure out to get by. And there may be some things that are discovered in the companion show that haven’t been discovered in the other show yet. So there could be like a thing where, ‘Oh, they encountered a zombie in season 4 in The Walking Dead that could do this and now we know why that was.’ So we’re going to be doing things like that are going to be pretty cool, but for the most part [the two shows] should be able to stand alone.”

The companion series recently received a two season order from AMC similar to the approach the network took to Breaking Bad prequel series Better Call Saul. The yet to be titled series will kick off with six one-hour episodes and will premiere on AMC in late summer with the second season debuting in 2016. So, any hints on the title of the show Kirkman?

“We’re just going to call it Walking Dead CSI: Miami

Well played sir…well played

DC TV universe is about to get bigger as the CW looks to create it’s own team-up spin-off of it’s successful Arrow and Flash franchises. A list of familiar actors and actresses planned to reprise their roles on the new show has surfaced and *SPOILER* one of the names will surprise you!

Arrow creators Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim are working with the network to create the show with Brandon Routh reprising his Arrow role as Ray Palmer/The Atom, Victor Garber reprising his Flash role as Dr. Martin Stein/Firestorm , Wentworth Miller as Flash villain Leonard Snart/Captain Cold and Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/Black Canary. The project will also include three major DC Comics characters who have never appeared in a TV series!

Whoa whoa whoa…wait a minute….Caity Lotz? Fans of the show Arrow will remember it was Lotz’s character Sara who met her demise this season on the show, so how could this be? And why would Captain Cold be part of this superhero team up? Could they be re-creating his character as Citizen Cold persona from the comics? And Martin Stein is only HALF of Firestorm in the Flash series, how will they work without Robbie Amell’s half! What in the crap is going on here?!

The project is in early stages of development, so obviously a lot could change from now until production so we’ll let the creative minds behind this idea work it all out, but I can honestly say I am extremely interested to see what they come up with.

Word is that the show could go straight to series, possibly for next midseason debut
