American Ultra is a fast-paced action comedy about Mike (Eisenberg), a seemingly hapless and unmotivated stoner whose small-town life with his live-in girlfriend, Phoebe (Stewart), is suddenly turned upside down.  Unbeknownst to him, Mike is actually a highly trained, lethal sleeper agent. In the blink of an eye, as his secret past comes back to haunt him, Mike is thrust into the middle of a deadly government operation and is forced to summon his inner action-hero in order to survive.

The film also stars Connie Britton, Topher Grace, Tony Hale, John Leguizamo, Bill Pullman and Walton Goggins. The film is directed by Nima Nourizadeh (Project X) and is produced by Anthony Bregman, Kevin Frakes, Raj Brinder Singh, David Alpert, and Britton Rizzio

Warner Bros. Pictures has released the Point Break trailer and poster and we have them for you below!

A young FBI agent, Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey), infiltrates an extraordinary team of extreme sports athletes he suspects of masterminding a string of unprecedented, sophisticated corporate heists. Deep undercover, and with his life in danger, he strives to prove these athletes are the architects of the mind-boggling crimes that are devastating the world’s financial markets.

The film stars Édgar Ramírez (Deliver Us From Evil) as Bodhi, and Luke Bracey (November Man) as Johnny Utah, along with Ray Winstone (Noah), Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies) and Delroy Lindo (Sahara). The film is directed by Ericson Core (Invincible).

 

Filmed on four continents, North America, Europe, South America and Asia, Point Break presents extraordinary feats performed by the world’s top extreme sports athletes, and involves some of the most daring exploits ever committed to film. Extreme sports featured include snowboarding, wingsuit flying, free rock climbing, high-speed motocross, and surfing 70-foot waves.

 

Point Break is scheduled for release in 3D and 2D theaters on December 25.

The trailer and poster for the upcoming film The End of the Tour has debuted and we have it for you below!

The End of the Tour tells the story of the five-day interview between Rolling Stone reporter (and novelist) David Lipsky (Jesse Eisenberg) and acclaimed novelist David Foster Wallace (Jason Segel), which took place right after the 1996 publication of Wallace’s groundbreaking epic novel, Infinite Jest. As the days go on, a tenuous yet intense relationship seems to develop between journalist and subject. The two men bob and weave around each other, sharing laughs and also possibly revealing hidden frailties – but it’s never clear how truthful they are being with each other. Ironically, the interview was never published, and five days of audio tapes were packed away in Lipsky’s closet. The two men did not meet again.

The movie also stars Anna Chlumsky, Joan Cusack, Mamie Gummer, and Mickey Sumner.

The film is based on Lipsky’s critically acclaimed memoir about this unforgettable encounter, Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself: A Road Trip with David Foster Wallace, written following Wallace’s 2008 suicide.  Both Segel and Eisenberg reveal great depths of emotion in their performances and the film is directed with humor and tenderness by Sundance vet James Ponsoldt (The Spectacular Now) from Pulitzer-Prize winner Donald Margulies’ insightful and heartbreaking screenplay.

The film is being released in NY and LA on July 31st and expanding in August

‘World War Z’ Sequel Sets Release Date

Paramount Pictures has revealed that World War Z 2 will arrive in theaters on June 9, 2017 and Brad Pitt will return for the sequel with The Impossible‘s Juan Antonio Bayona attached to direct.

Locke writer and director Steven Knight will be providing the screenplay for World War Z 2 with Brad Pitt serving as producer.

20th Century Fox had previously announced Fantastic Four 2 for June 9th setting up quite a showdown for the studios.

Liz’s Review: ‘FORBIDDEN EMPIRE’ is a fun filled fantasy

ForbiddenEmpire_KeyArtAn 18th century English cartographer, Jonathan Green, sets out on a journey to map the uncharted lands of Transylvania, only to discover the dark secrets and dangerous creatures hidden in a cursed, fantastical Ukrainian forest. Forbidden Empire is pure fantasy and just plain fun. Totally unexpected twists and turns are a welcome thing in the fantasy genre these days. Forbidden Empire-00011Forbidden Empire has the visual beauty of Pan’s Labyrinth and The Brothers Grimm, combined with a humor reminiscent of Willow. The character of Jonathan Green accidentally becomes the hero of a town run by fanatical religion and teaming with superstition. Mixed with witchcraft and folklore, this script is thoroughly entertaining and completely compelling. The story takes upon new life with each character’s rendition of the town’s recent history. Forbidden Empire-00050Some unexpected moments of horror heighten the coolness factor of this film. I can honestly say I had no idea what was coming next. Much love must be given to the costume ans set departments. Not a hair out of place, down to the smallest object on a shelf or in Jonathan Green’s steam-punk inspired carriage. The opening credit are a sight to behold unto themselves, with a CG borderline automaton style to be envied. The makeup effects are astounding. The creative team involved in the making of this movie deserves all the applause. Forbidden Empire is truly unexpected.Forbidden Empire-00039With great acting by the entire ensemble cast and a lively score, Forbidden Empire is a winner. You cannot go wrong with this film. From BAFTA award-winning director Asif Kapadia (SENNA), AMY tells the incredible story of six-time Grammy-winner Amy Winehouse – in her own words. Featuring extensive unseen archive footage and previously unheard tracks, this strikingly modern, moving and vital film shines a light on the world we live in, in a way that very few can.

A once-in-a-generation talent, Amy Winehouse was a musician that captured the world’s attention. A pure jazz artist in the most authentic sense – she wrote and sung from the heart using her musical gifts to analyse her own problems. The combination of her raw honesty and supreme talent resulted in some of the most unique and adored songs of the modern era.

Her huge success, however, resulted in relentless and invasive media attention which coupled with Amy’s troubled relationships and precarious lifestyle saw her life tragically begin to unravel. Amy Winehouse died from alcohol poisoning in July 2011 at the age of 27.

An Official Selection of the 36th Moscow International Film Festival, SO BRIGHT IS THE VIEW is a Romanian drama, the feature-length debut of filmmaking brothers Michaël and Joël Florescu.  The film follows Estera (Bianca Valea), a middle class Jewish girl in modern-day Bucharest, who’s at a crossroads, forced to choose between pursuing a job in Atlanta working for a nouveau riche business thug, or joining her mother in Israel.  With her father in prison for unspecified crimes and her mother about to be evicted, the pregnant Estera — trying hard to work out some sort of future with her boyfriend, Vlad (Robi Ers) – has only one hope: a “friend-interview” with Mike (Ovidiu Niculescu), a Romanian-American businessman, who may or may not have a job offer. “The Florescu brothers have the ability to present the drama of everyday life”, said David Walsh, Arts Editor of the World Socialist Web Site.
