New Trailer: ‘Lazer Team’ from Rooster Teeth Productions

LAZER TEAM1LAZER TEAM begins decades ago when the Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence project received a onetime signal from outer space, which was never decoded. Or so we were told. Unbeknownst to the general public, the secretly translated signal said two things: One, we are not alone, and two, the galaxy is a dangerous place. Working in total secrecy, the US government has been training a single Champion of Earth – a warrior of incredible skill to don a suit of unimaginable power designed by new alien allies in preparation for Earth’s battle for survival against an evil race of aliens.  Unfortunately, the suit never made it all the way to its intended destination. Instead of a lone savior, four hapless idiots find the suit and are thrust into the role of heroes as the titular Lazer Team.

Robert Kirkman Talks About The Walking Dead Companion Series

The-Walking-Dead-Companion-Series-Promo_001The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman spoke today at SXSW in Austin, Texas about the upcoming Walking Dead companion series set to premiere on AMC in late summer 2015. EW was there and they got some interesting comments regarding the timeline of the show:

“It’s not going to relate to the comics at all,” Kirkman said. “From the beginning of the show one thing we’ve heard is, ‘What’s going on over here or there.’ So the intent of the new show is to expand that world and show another corner of the United States and what’s happening there. The timeline is taking place a little bit earlier than the original show. Rick Grimes woke up from a coma and was like, ‘Oh, man, zombies, weird!’ We’re going to possibly see that unfold a little more in the other show. But I wouldn’t call it ‘prequel’ because the entirety of the show is not going take place before [The Walking Dead]. It will eventually form a path . running concurrently.”

Interesting comments! But will the two shows ever cross? Kirkman isn’t saying, but he did say this:

”One thing that we’re doing with the new show that we’re trying with everything is it’s not derivative,” he said. “It’s standing on its own. You can watch it by itself and get your own experience. But if you are watching both shows there are things like, ‘Oh they discovered this, or they discovered that in a different way.’ There are a lot of things about The Walking Dead world these characters have to learn or figure out to get by. And there may be some things that are discovered in the companion show that haven’t been discovered in the other show yet. So there could be like a thing where, ‘Oh, they encountered a zombie in season 4 in The Walking Dead that could do this and now we know why that was.’ So we’re going to be doing things like that are going to be pretty cool, but for the most part [the two shows] should be able to stand alone.”

The companion series recently received a two season order from AMC similar to the approach the network took to Breaking Bad prequel series Better Call Saul. The yet to be titled series will kick off with six one-hour episodes and will premiere on AMC in late summer with the second season debuting in 2016. So, any hints on the title of the show Kirkman?

“We’re just going to call it Walking Dead CSI: Miami

‘Arrow’ Debuts New Trailer at Paley Fest

Arrow_season_3_poster_-_a_city's_saviorsArrow was front and center for Saturday night’s CW series’ PaleyFest panel and they came prepared to wow the audience. The cast and crew had a lot to talk about regarding what’s to come in the second half of the season, plus they brought a new trailer for the audience to wow over!

Answering questions from the moderator as well as the crow were Stephen Amell, along with David Ramsey, Katie Cassidy, Emily Bett Rickards, Colton Haynes, Paul Blackthorne, Willa Holland, John Barrowman and exec producers Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti. Here’s little of what they had to say:

“It’s going to get worse before it gets better,” said Stephen Amell of his character Oliver Queen’s fate. Speaking directly about last episodes bombshell of an offer for villain Ra’s al Ghul, he went on to say, “If you know Ra’s and his tactics… you realize that it’s an ‘offer’ in name only. It’s a demand. And if Oliver says no, there will be incredibly dire consequences.”

When asked directly about how the second half of the season would lead into season 4, producer Andrew Kreisberg added, “The show will never be the same again.”

A fan filmed version of the trailer has been leaked…you can view it below!

In honor of the anniversary the Festival will also host special screenings of classic Python films Monty Python’s Life of Brian and Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life. The five surviving members of the legendary comedy group, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin, will come together for the special presentation of Monty Python and The Holy Grail, which will screen on Friday April 24 at The Beacon Theatre. Tickets to the cult classic Monty Python and the Holy Grail go on sale on March 23 at www.tribecafilm.com. The 2015 Tribeca Film Festival will take place April 15-26 in downtown Manhattan.

Tribeca Film Festival 2015 MarqueeContinuing its celebration of the Pythons, the Festival will debut Monty Python – The Meaning of Live. Directed by Roger Graef and James Rogan, this feature-length documentary offers unprecedented access to the preparations and staging of the Pythons’ 2014 reunion shows at The O2 in London and gives a fascinating insight into the personalities, relationships, and circumstances that made the Pythons into a global phenomenon. The documentary will premiere on Saturday, April 25, Monty Python’s Life of Brian will screen on April 25, and Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life on April 26. Each film presentation will be followed by a Q&A with some of the members of Monty Python.

“It is hard to believe that Holy Grail was first shown 40 years ago,” said Paula Weinstein, Executive Vice President, Tribeca Enterprises. “The film is so brilliant and the Pythons’ influence on contemporary comedy in cinema and television is so enduring that it feels as fresh today as it did decades ago. We are honored to welcome the Pythons to Tribeca and to share stories of their groundbreaking process with our audience through the international premiere of Monty Python – The Meaning of Live.”

“It’s amazing how lack of money saved us from mediocrity. We couldn’t afford real horses,” said Terry Gilliam.

Michael Palin said, “The Pythons are looking forward very much to the Tribeca Film Festival and the chance to meet anyone who can remember why we made Monty Python and The Holy Grail. All we know is that it was a documentary about coconuts that rather lost its way. If anyone at Tribeca can explain why we made it and didn’t call it Braveheart then our visit to New York will not have been wasted.”

Eric Idle continued, “I often had the feeling the movie might make a good Broadway musical….”

About the Tribeca Film Festival

The Tribeca Film Festival helps filmmakers reach the broadest possible audience, enabling the international film community and general public to experience the power of cinema and promote New York City as a major filmmaking center. It is well known for being a diverse international film festival that supports emerging and established directors.

Founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, and Craig Hatkoff in 2001, following the attacks on the World Trade Center, to spur the economic and cultural revitalization of the lower Manhattan district through an annual celebration of film, music, and culture, the Festival brings the industry and community together around storytelling.

The Tribeca Film Festival has screened more than 1,600 films from more than 80 countries since its first edition in 2002. Since inception, it has attracted an international audience of more than 4.9 million attendees, and has generated an estimated $900 million in economic activity for New York City.

‘The Crow’ Has Officially Been Cast!

jack-hustonDread Central is all but confirming today our previous report that Boardwalk Empire star Jack Huston has been officially cast as the lead in the upcoming remake of The Crow. The news comes straight from the mouth of Crow creator James O’Barr who stated that:

Jack Huston has definitely been cast,” O’Barr saidI’m really happy with that choice.

A film that has gone through many changes since it’s announcement, including three director departs and now a lead acting change, the remake of the 1994 cult classic film will be directed by Corin Hardy and written by Cliff Dorfman, who is said to be keeping very close to the source material.

Filming begins in a few months so keep it here for all your Crow news!
