Eddie Redmayne in Talks to Star in the Upcoming Harry Potter Spin-off

eddie-redmayne_0

Variety is reporting that recent Academy Awards winner Eddie Redmayne is the frontrunner to play Newt Scamander in Warner Bros. Pictures’ highly anticipated Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Although not officially offered the role, director David Yates is said to be very high on the actor, but is still considering a few other actors for the role as well. Nicholas Hoult has recently been linked to the role as well.

The film, a prequel of sorts to the Harry Potter franchise, is inspired by one of Harry Potter’s Hogwarts textbook “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and tells the adventures of the book’s fictitious author, Newt Scamander. “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling is currently writing the screenplay for the film.

The film is scheduled for a November 18, 2016 release.

The news comes just moments after The Hollywood Reporter’s report that Lucy Griffiths (True Blood) has joined the cast as Emily Woodrow, a new character created just for the show. The character is described as a no-nonsense single mother of three. Emily’s a waitress, the church organist, a bookkeeper and Jesse’s loyal right hand. Ryan Gosling in Talks to Star in Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Haunted Mansion’

RyanGosling1

Interesting news came from The Wrap today as they are reporting that former Mouseketeer, Ryan Gosling (Drive), is in talks to star in Guillermo del Toro’s  take on Walt Disney Pictures’ The Haunted Mansion.

The Haunted Mansion has been in development at Disney for several years, going through numerous screenplay drafts. News of Gosling’s involvement might be a sign that Del Toro has finally submitted a script he is ready to shoot with.

No word on release date or plot, but it would most likely revolve around a “haunted mansion”…yeah…I went out on a limb right there.

New ‘X-Files’ Show Nearing Greenlight At Fox

xfiles

TV Wise is reporting that a new X-Files series is closer than we think to becoming reality. Back in January we reported that Fox TV Group chairman Gary Newman announced that series creator Chris Carter was in talks with the network for a new run of the show and that stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny were onboard to return, now it appears a “limited run” of the series is close to a green light from Fox.

The report states:

Fox is close to giving an official green-light to a revival of their iconic science fiction series, which originally aired between 1993 and 2002. Per sources, the network has settled on a “short-stack” order for the revival and while the exact size of the order is yet-to-be-determined, I’m told it will be less than ten episodes.

Why such a short amount of episodes? Clearly the interest from the fans is still there:

The feeling was that it would be easier for the always in demand Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny to schedule a block of time to shoot the revival with a short order. The duo, who were always committed to doing more X-Files, have, sources say, agreed to reprise their roles. It is understood than an offer has also gone out to Mitch Pileggi. Other key cast members will also return.

A revival of the show has always been something I’ve hoped would happen given the amount of unfinished business the show has. Only time will tell if the resurgence is a novelty or has some substance to it.

We will keep updating this story as it transpires..keep it here for all your X-Files news!

‘Captain America: Civil War’ Sets Start Date and Reveals First Synopsis

captain-america-captain-america-3-civil-war-who-will-winWith Avengers: Age of Ultron a little over a month away, most believed the cast would be on the promotional trail, leaving production of the upcoming Captain America: Civil War a few months away, but according to a new report, that’s not the case. A casting call has gone out, looking for “many ethnicities” in Atlanta with a shooting date of April 1st! No, I assure you this is no April Fools joke.

Along with the casting notice came the first synopsis of the film which we have for you below:

Following the events of Age of Ultron, the collective governments of the world pass an act designed to regulate all superhuman activity. This polarizes opinion amongst the Avengers, causing two factions to side with Iron Man or Captain America, which causes an epic battle between former allies.

Captain America: Civil War made news a few weeks back when it was announced that a partnership between Sony and Marvel had been made and that Spider-Man would appear in the upcoming film.

The movie stars Chris EvansRobert Downey Jr., Scarlett JohanssonAnthony Mackie and Jeremy Renner. It hits theaters on May 6, 2016.

Ruth Negga Cast as Tulip in AMC’s ‘Preacher’

RuthNeggamain

Deadline is reporting that current Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. cast member, Ruth Negga, has been cast in role of Tulip O’Hare, the female lead in Preacher, AMC’s drama pilot based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s cult 1990s comic.

Preacher tells the story of Jesse Custer, a preacher in the small Texas town of Annville. Custer was accidentally possessed by the supernatural creature named Genesis in an incident which killed his entire congregation and flattened his church.Genesis, the product of the unauthorized, unnatural coupling of an angel and a demon, is an infant with no sense of individual will. However, as it is composed of both pure goodness and pure evil, it might have enough power to rival that of God Himself. In other words, Jesse Custer, bonded to Genesis, may have become the most powerful being in the whole of living existence. Jesse hits the road, reunited with his ex girlfriend, Tulip, and joined by a rowdy Irish vampire, Cassidy, to track down God himself and force him to explain why he abandoned his duties in Heaven.

Preacher will be produced by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen. The pilot was written by Sam Catlin and Rogen and Goldberg are set to direct it. Jesse Custer has yet to be cast. The show will premiere in 2016 on the network

In addition, 12-time Oscar® nominee Thomas Newman (The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Saving Mr. Banks) has been signed to score the film, as John Williams’ schedule was interrupted and he was unavailable to score the film due to a minor health issue, now corrected. The laws facing automotive dealers are niche specific and known by few. MLG team of experienced automotive lawyers has vast experience representing dealers in a variety of contexts. We have represented dealers in cases involving terminations, add-points, facilities upgrades, warranty chargebacks, allocation, curtailments, breach of fiduciary duty and fraud, both before the California New Motor Vehicle Board and in state and federal court.

The film will be released in theaters nationwide on October 16, 2015.

Williams, whose credits include Stars Wars: The Force Awakens and the Harry Potter films, will join Spielberg on his next film, The BFG, beginning later this year, continuing their unprecedented collaboration which they have enjoyed for over 40 years.

Newman has scored many films for DreamWorks, including The Help, Road to Perdition and American Beauty, the latter two for which he received Academy Award® nominations for Best Original Score.

In addition to directing, Spielberg will produce the film with Marc Platt (Into the Woods, Drive) and Kristie Macosko Krieger (Lincoln), with Adam Somner (The Wolf of Wall Street), Daniel Lupi (Her), Jeff Skoll (The Hundred-Foot Journey) and Jonathan King (Cesar Chavez) serving as executive producers.
