Paramount Pictures, New Regency and Plan B Entertainment have announced that production has begun in New Orleans on The Big Short, Adam McKay’s big screen adaptation of the Michael Lewis’ bestselling non-fiction book “The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine.”
The movie, directed by McKay, will star Christian Bale (American Hustle), Steve Carell (Foxcatcher), Ryan Gosling (Drive) and Brad Pitt (Fury) with a supporting cast that includes Melissa Leo (The Fighter) and Marisa Tomei (Crazy, Stupid, Love).
The Big Short centers around the financial crisis of 2007–2010 and the build-up of the housing and credit bubble. A group of investors who, recognizing just how insane the housing bubble had become, figured out how to “short” the market prior to the collapse.
