NEW Mockingjay Part 2 Trailer Tributing Katniss and Prim’s Sisterhood

The new trailer and poster for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 has been released earlier today and so far the comments on it have been mixed. This is Lionsgate’s final installment for the Hunger Games movie franchise, where we will finally get to see Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) take on the Capitol. In this new trailer we see glimpses in the past of Katniss and Prim’s (Willow Shields) relationship, and just how important that relationship was for this revolution. Many Hunger Games fans can see this trailer as a tribute to how important Prim was to the over arching story, however many others see this as a horrible fan made trailer. Despite the marketing choices that have been made for promoting the film, there is no doubt that the hype for Mockingjay Part 2 has not died.

Mockingjay Part 2 will be in theaters and IMAX on November 20th.

Lionsgate (via EW) has debuted the teaser poster and logo reveal teaser for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 the final film in The Hunger Games saga. Check out both below!

With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confronts President Snow in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale, Finnick, and Peeta – Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to stage an assassination attempt on President Snow, who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she has faced in The Hunger Games.

The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Willow Shields, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland along with Julianne Moore, Mahershala Ali, Natalie Dormer, Wes Chatham, Elden Henson and Evan Ross. It is directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by Peter Craig and Danny Strong.

The film will be released in 2D, 3D and IMAX3D theaters on November 20, 2015.

Lionsgate Wants to Make More Hunger Games Movies!

The-Hunger-Games-Mockingjay-Part-1-Teaser-TrailerAn interesting tidbit surfaced yesterday from the Lionsgate shareholders teleconference when several investors grilled for answers as to what the studio’s plans are for future after the release of this year’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 hits theaters in November. After trying to assure investors that the company has a “strong slate” of films coming, CEO Jon Feltheimer dropped the bombshell and said, “we’re actively looking at some development and thinking about prequel and sequel possibilities” for the Hunger Games franchise. What?! As Hunger Games fans will know, the story created by Suzanne Collins ends with the completion of the Mockingjay films so….how is this possible? Will Suzanne Collins be involved? From the first film on, the film’s premise has centered around murder and class warfare, but at the center of that bleakness was a beacon of hope, Katniss Everdeen, however, in Mockingjay Part 1, that hope takes a turn for the worse. Centered around the aftermath of the events of Catching Fire, we find our heroine at her darkest point, surrounded by a colony of freedom fighters and lost without the man whom she has grown to care for, Peeta.
