File this one under, “huh?!” NBC (you know, the network where shows go to die) is bringing 90’s sitcom Coach back to TV and star Craig T. Nelson is returning as well. The show will not be a reboot of the popular series, but rather a sequel of sorts. The original comedy series ran for nine seasons on ABC from 1989 to 1997.

NBC has ordered 13 episodes of the series, in which Coach Hayden Fox, in the present day, has retired from coaching. He is called back to become assistant coach to his own grown son, who is the new head coach at an Ivy league school in Pennsylvania that is just starting up a new team.

Barry Kemp, the original creator of Coach, will write and executive produce. No word on if any of the other actors from the original series will return at this time.
