Yes, I’m a Ryan Reynolds fan. I actually get a lot of flack about that from my buddies on The Reel Big Show. He’s not just a pretty face though. He has been very busy in the past few years and now six of his movies are slated for release this year. Mississippi Grind, co-starring the magnificent Ben Mendleson has been picked up by A24 at Sundance, The Voices, co-starring Anna Kendrick comes the theaters/VOD Friday (Liz’s review coming soon) and The Captive comes to Bluray/DVD/VOD March 3rd. Woman In Gold starring Helen Mirren comes out April 3rd, then two other releases, Selfless with Ben Kingsley and Criminal with Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman, Tommy Lee Jones and Alice Eve. Whew.
The Voices – Theaters & VOD February 6th
Here’s Liz’s review! Stay tuned for coverage of the roundtable with Mr Reynolds!
Jerry (Ryan Reynolds) is that chipper guy clocking the nine-to-five at a bathtub factory, with the offbeat charm of anyone who could use a few friends. With the help of his court-appointed psychiatrist, he pursues his office crush (Gemma Arterton). However, the relationship takes a sudden, murderous turn after she stands him up for a date. Guided by his evil talking cat and benevolent talking dog, Jerry must decide whether to keep striving for normalcy, or indulge in a much more sinister path.
Woman In Gold – DVD & Bluray & VOD April 3rd
WOMAN IN GOLD is the remarkable true story of one woman’s journey to reclaim her heritage and seek justice for what happened to her family. Sixty years after she fled Vienna during World War II, an elderly Jewish woman, Maria Altmann (Helen Mirren), starts her journey to retrieve family possessions seized by the Nazis, among them Klimt’s famous painting ‘The Lady in Gold’. Together with her inexperienced but plucky young lawyer Randy Schoenberg (Ryan Reynolds), she embarks upon a major battle which takes them all the way to the heart of the Austrian establishment and the U.S. Supreme Court, and forces her to confront difficult truths about the past along the way.
