To continue Disney’s run at taking classic animated films and making them new, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that plans are underway for a new big screen take on Mulan!
The 1998 animated film, directed by Tony Bancroft and Barry Cook, was an adaptation of the ancient Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, which centered around a young who disguises herself as a man so she can take her father’s place in the army and go to war. The film made a modest $304.3 million worldwide, and earned Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations.
Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek have provided a screenplay for the live action project, with Chris Bender and J.C. Spink (Horrible Bosses 2) set to produce.
