Marvel Holds Secret Spider-Man Screen Tests on Saturday! Who Tested for the Role?!

Spiderman

Rumors have been flying for the last couple months regarding who will be taking over the mantle for the webslinger in his upcoming debut into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Captain America: Civil War, well word comes from The Hollywood Reporter that we now know exactly who tested this past Saturday in Atlanta!

According to the trade, both Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game) and Tom Holland (The Impossible) tested, neither is surprising since their names have been attached to rumors for quite some time, but the site adds that the following actors also tested:

The other four hopefuls included: Judah Lewis (a relative newbie who will be seen in the Jean Marc-Vallee’s fall drama Demolition), Matthew Lintz (who will be seen with Adam Sandler in this summer’s Pixels), Charlie Plummer (who had a recurring gig on Boardwalk Empire), and Charlie Rowe (a British actor who appeared on Fox’s short-lived Red Band Society).

The tests cap off a worldwide search in which the producers looked at over 1,500 boys from around the world, narrowing them down to the final six only in the last two weeks or so. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, producer Amy Pascal, and Joe and Anthony Russo, the duo that is directing Captain America: Civil War, were all present for the tests.

Marvel is currently in production on Captain America: Civil War in Atlanta, where the tests were held. A decision is expected to be made early in the week.
