The story followed the adventures of Gordon, a yale polo player, and his companions Dale Arden and Dr. Hans Zarkov as they escape Earth during a meteor attack and sets off to find the people responsible. His story has been translated over television, comic books, novels and movies. including the 1980 film starring Sam J. Jones as Flash Gordon.
The film would mark the fourth comic book film for Vaughn who most recently released Kingsman: The Secret Service this year.
