Vin Diesel took to Facebook to announce that Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray would helm the upcoming action sequel, Furious 8, the next installment in the Fast & Furious franchise. This news comes days after Diesel announced that they are looking to close out the franchise with a final trilogy.
Word of a list of potential Fast 8 helmers was released yesterday and included Straight Outta Compton‘s F. Gary Gray, Now You See Me‘s Louis Leterrier, The Signal‘s Will Eubank and You’re Next and The Guest’s Adam Wingard, but it was Gray that ultimately won out.
Furious 8 is set for an April 14, 2017 release.
