Those of us who attended San Diego Comic Con this past July were informed by director Wes Ball that pre-production on the sequel to the then unreleased film had already begun, now comes the announcement that the sequel now has a release date!
The film currently titled Maze Runner: Scorch Trials will now be released on September 15, 2015 by 20th Century Fox.
The recently released Maze Runner took home a solid but not spectacular $32 million dollars at the US box office this past weekend, which is a lot lowers than similar YA novel franchises (Divergent or The Hunger Games), but given its low budget is a win for the studio and the filmmakers.
The Scorch Trials is the second book in James Dashner’s series. No word on if 20th Century Fox is readying the third book The Death Cure, but history says it’s only a matter of time.
